Drew Laiche

Drew Laiche has been a licensed Oregon teacher with an Advanced Mathematics endorsement since 2010. He founded Portland Math Tutor, LLC in 2016 to help students build deep understanding and lasting confidence in mathematics. In 2024 Drew expanded tutoring to Eugene as Eugene Math Tutor.

Before earning his teaching license, Drew spent two years living in Seoul, South Korea, where he taught English and developed a lasting passion for education and travel. After returning to the U.S. and completing his master’s degree in education, he began teaching high school mathematics in Hawaii. He then moved back to Oregon in 2014 to continue his teaching career and expand his work with students one-on-one.

Drew’s teaching is grounded in a constructivist philosophy—the belief that students learn best when they actively build new ideas from what they already know. His lessons emphasize reasoning, clarity, and multiple representations, helping students connect concepts across mathematical domains.

With more than a decade of experience in math classrooms and individualized math tutoring, Drew has guided hundreds of students toward stronger problem-solving skills, higher achievement, and a greater sense of mathematical confidence and curiosity. He now tutors students online from locations around the world, bringing a global perspective to his teaching.

Daniel Wang

Daniel Wang holds a Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Oregon, where he also earned his master’s degree. He brings nearly two decades of experience teaching mathematics at the college level and has a deep background in both pure and applied mathematical analysis.

Before joining Portland Math Tutor, LLC and Eugene Math Tutor, Daniel served as an Assistant Professor of Mathematics at Sam Houston State University in Texas and Trinity College in Connecticut. Across these roles, he taught a wide range of courses including Calculus, Differential Equations, Fourier Analysis, and Foundations of Analysis, helping students connect rigorous theory to intuitive understanding.

Daniel’s teaching emphasizes reasoning, clarity, and precision. His calm, structured guidance helps students strengthen both conceptual understanding and procedural fluency across topics from algebra to advanced calculus.

Based in Eugene, Oregon, Daniel now tutors students online, combining his university-level expertise with a practical, student-centered approach to high school and college mathematics.
